The unemployment rate shows the share of unemployed persons in the economically active population, or the labour force. The data are collected with the Labour Force Survey. An unemployed person is someone who does not work anywhere, but who is actively seeking work and is available to start work immediately (within two weeks), if he or she found work.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2018, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased 3.9% compared to 2017. For the third consecutive year the economic growth in Estonia was faster than 3%. In the 4th quarter of 2018, the Estonian economy increased by 4.2% compared to the 4th quarter of 2017.

Secure data interoperability Statistics Estonia received 1,099,300 euros via the innovation fund for the project “Secure data interoperability between sectors”. The innovation fund is administered by the Government Office of Estonia, and its activities and projects are funded under the European Union Cohesion Policy 2021–2027 measure “Development of innovation capacities in the public sector”. 1,366,491 people – Estonia's population grew due to immigration, the number of births fell

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, on 1 January 2024, the population of Estonia was 1,366,491, which is 607 persons more than at the same time a year ago. In 2023, there were 10,721 births and 15,832 deaths in Estonia. Based on the data on registered migration, 20,209 persons immigrated to Estonia and 14,491 persons emigrated from Estonia. Compared with a year earlier, the number of births, deaths and immigrants has fallen, while the number of emigrants has risen.

Tomorrow is the last day to complete the e-census

Today and tomorrow are the last days when it is still possible to participate in the Estonian e-census. All Estonian residents are invited to complete the survey. By today, January 21, more than 530,000 persons, i.e. 40% of the population, have been enumerated on the basis of the census e-questionnaire.

Helle Bunder, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, pointed out that year-on-year growth in the output of the mining industry in September was mainly driven by peat production, while the increase in energy production was due to growth in electricity production. “In manufacturing, the volume of industrial production was down in slightly more than half of the manufacturing activities.
