During the data literacy week, which begins on 27 March, Statistics Estonia invites all young people or anyone else who is interested to improve their data literacy. The main event of this week is Küsimus24, a 24-hour question marathon organised for the first time, during which anyone can submit a question to Statistics Estonia.

Up to 3 November one can apply for the enumerator’s post at the Population and Housing Census starting at the end of the year. Most candidates are expected to Tallinn and Harju county, to the neighbourhood of Suure-Jaani and to the rural municipalities near Lake Peipus.

In the fourth quarter of 2025, the supply of services exceeded purchases, resulting in a surplus of 828 million euros in foreign trade in services. In 2025 overall, the balance of foreign trade in services was in surplus by 3.2 billion euros, growing by 204 million euros compared with 2024. According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, on 1 January 2024, the population of Estonia was 1,366,491, which is 607 persons more than at the same time a year ago. In 2023, there were 10,721 births and 15,832 deaths in Estonia. Based on the data on registered migration, 20,209 persons immigrated to Estonia and 14,491 persons emigrated from Estonia. Compared with a year earlier, the number of births, deaths and immigrants has fallen, while the number of emigrants has risen.

A cartoon has been created in cooperation between the website lastekas.ee and Statistics Estonia. It features the popular cartoon character Bunny Juss and his family who tell the children about the Population and Housing Census, which begins on this Saturday, 31 December.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the midnight of 31 March the pilot Census of the 2011 Population and Housing Census (PHC 2011) came to an end, in the course of which, according to preliminary data, a total of 12,531 persons were enumerated. For the first time, the people could enumerate themselves via the Internet.

The international Survey of Adult Skills (PIAAC), which aims to collect data on people’s everyday competencies such as literacy, numeracy, information-seeking, use of computers and information technology, as well as their education and work experience, begins today. This is the second time that Estonia has participated in the survey.

According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2010 the production of industrial enterprises was equal to the production in January of the previous year. The growth in the energy production was the main factor causing the increase in the production, which had been declining since the respective month of the previous year, because the production of manufacturing decreased in comparison with January of the previous year.
