According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in May 2025, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which includes the expenditures of tourists in Estonia, increased by 0.1% compared with April. Compared with May last year, the index rose by 4.6%.

How healthy are the people of Estonia?

Starting on 1 May, residents of Estonia will receive invitations to participate in the Estonian Health Interview Survey, which aims to assess the health status of the population, factors influencing it, and the use of health services. According to Statistics Estonia, 88% of Estonian households had internet connection at home in 2017. The share of households using mobile internet connection has reached 82%, increasing by four percentage points in a year.

In July, imports increased more than exports

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2017, the exports of goods increased by 6% and imports by 9% compared to July 2016. Increased imports of base metals and articles of base metal and transport equipment contributed to the growth in imports.

In the 2nd quarter, the number of job vacancies was 12,000

According to Statistics Estonia, there were nearly 12,000 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia in the 2nd quarter of 2017. This is the highest number of job vacancies in the past nine years.

In August, the annual change of the consumer price index was affected the most by food

According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the consumer price index in August 2017 was 0.4% compared to July 2017 and 3.9% compared to August of the previous year.

In July, more tourists stayed in accommodation establishments than a year ago

According to Statistics Estonia, 498,000 domestic and foreign tourists stayed in Estonian accommodation establishments in July 2017, which is 2% more than in July 2016.

Electricity production increased last year

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2016, the production of electricity totalled 12 terawatt-hours, which is 17% more than in the previous year. Electricity production from renewable sources decreased 6% compared to 2015.

In July, the volume of industrial production was greater than a year ago

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2017, the production of industrial enterprises increased 5% compared to July 2016. Production increased in mining and quarrying and in manufacturing but decreased in the energy sector.

In July, stable turnover growth of retail trade enterprises continued

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2017, compared to July of the previous year, the turnover of retail trade enterprises increased 1% at constant prices. While in June turnover growth accelerated to 4% compared to the same month of the previous year, in July growth decelerated and sales continued to grow at one percent similarly to April and May.
