According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the first quarter of 2021, the exports of services grew by 2% and imports of services by 51% year on year. Estonian economic entities exported and imported services for 1.6 billion euros. The imports of services increased mainly on account of growth in telecommunications, computer and information services.

Passenger transport by road and rail increased over the year

According to Statistics Estonia, Estonian transport enterprises served nearly 222 million passengers in 2019, which is 6% more than the previous year. The carriage of passengers increased in road, rail and water transport, but decreased in air transport.

Gender pay gap refers to the difference between the average gross hourly wages and salaries of male and female employees by economic activity at the letter code level. Part-time employees' earnings are also taken into account when comparing gross hourly wages and salaries. Hourly wages and salaries are used to calculate the gender pay gap on the basis of a pan-European methodology. According to Statistics Estonia, in 2019, the average monthly gross wages and salaries of Estonian enterprises, institutions and organisations were 1,407 euros, i.e. 7.4% higher than in 2018. The average monthly gross wages and salaries were higher in the second and fourth quarters.
