HICP flash estimate: prices up by 0.1% in May
According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in May 2025, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which includes the expenditures of tourists in Estonia, increased by 0.1% compared with April. Compared with May last year, the index rose by 4.6%.

Starting on 1 May, residents of Estonia will receive invitations to participate in the Estonian Health Interview Survey, which aims to assess the health status of the population, factors influencing it, and the use of health services. According to Statistics Estonia, there were 3.1 million cinema visits in Estonia in 2015, which is an all-time record since the restoration of independence. A record number of films were screened in Estonian cinemas, with the majority of the films being European ones for the first time.

Statistics Estonia gave an overview of the preparations for the next population census
The next population and housing census in Estonia will, for the first time in Estonian history, take place on the basis of registers, i.e. no information is asked from people directly, the results are put together based on the data stored in state databases. This is what gave the census the name Register-Based Population and Housing Census (with the abbreviation REGREL in Estonian).

Electricity production decreased last year
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2015, the production of electricity totalled 10.4 terawatt-hours, which is approximately 17% less than in the previous year. Electricity production from renewable sources increased 3% compared to 2014.
