HICP flash estimate: prices up by 0.1% in May

According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in May 2025, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which includes the expenditures of tourists in Estonia, increased by 0.1% compared with April. Compared with May last year, the index rose by 4.6%.

How healthy are the people of Estonia?

Starting on 1 May, residents of Estonia will receive invitations to participate in the Estonian Health Interview Survey, which aims to assess the health status of the population, factors influencing it, and the use of health services. The survey covers the entire population of Estonia aged 15 and older.

In July, imports increased more than exports

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2017, the exports of goods increased by 6% and imports by 9% compared to July 2016. Increased imports of base metals and articles of base metal and transport equipment contributed to the growth in imports.

Electricity production increased last year

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2016, the production of electricity totalled 12 terawatt-hours, which is 17% more than in the previous year. Electricity production from renewable sources decreased 6% compared to 2015.

In July, stable turnover growth of retail trade enterprises continued

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2017, compared to July of the previous year, the turnover of retail trade enterprises increased 1% at constant prices. While in June turnover growth accelerated to 4% compared to the same month of the previous year, in July growth decelerated and sales continued to grow at one percent similarly to April and May.

In the 2nd quarter, year-over-year growth in average wages and salaries accelerated

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2017, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,242 euros, and increased 6.8% compared to the 2nd quarter of 2016. The year-over-year growth in wages and salaries, which had decelerated for four successive quarters, accelerated again and was 1.1 percentage points faster than in the previous quarter.
