Working international students and graduates contributed nearly 23 million euros in taxes in the academic year 2023/2024

According to Statistics Estonia, working international students and international graduates who have stayed to work here after graduation contributed nearly 23 million euros in taxes in Estonia in the academic year 2023/2024. Although the number of international students in Estonia has decreased, their contribution to the Estonian economy has not fallen as much.

HICP flash estimate: prices up by 0.9% in August

According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in August 2025, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which includes the expenditures of tourists, increased by 0.9% compared with July. In comparison with July last year, the HICP rose by 6.2%. The HICP is a flash estimate, which will be revised based on the August price data.

According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in July 2025, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which includes the expenditures of tourists, increased by 0.6% compared with June. Compared with July last year, the HICP rose by 5.6%.

In August, trade increased

According to Statistics Estonia, in August 2017, the exports of goods increased by 8% and imports by 12% compared to August 2016. Increased exports and imports of mineral products and mechanical appliances contributed to trade growth.

Stable turnover growth in retail trade continued also in August

According to Statistics Estonia, in August 2017, compared to August of the previous year, the turnover of retail trade enterprises increased 1% at constant prices. Similarly to July, turnover showed a stable one-percent growth also in August compared to the same month of the previous year.

According to Statistics Estonia, by 15 September, 57% of the sown area of cereals, 47% of the sown area of rape and turnip rape, and 49% of the area under potatoes had been harvested in Estonia.
